Korea fade versus London open

Weekday 15-minute Binance spot USDT volume · 04:00–10:00 UTC · 100 = mean of that window

In plain English · the 60-second version

The question. When the Korean stock market closes and London opens, does crypto volume spike?

The result. No spike. Volume fades into the Korean close (06:30 UTC) and then builds toward London's open. For BTC the closing 15 minutes run at 87 (winter) vs the 04:00–10:00 average of 100; the first London bar runs at 122.

Caveats. Time-zone clocks matter: London opens at 08:00 UTC in winter but 07:00 in summer, so the gap after Korea's close is 90 minutes in winter and 30 in summer. It is volume on Binance, not Korean or London stock activity.

Scope. A narrow, descriptive cut of 15-minute volume. A fade-then-rebuild pattern is not a trade.

Bottom line: There's no volume jump when Korea closes. Activity dips, then picks up as London comes online.

Jargon decoder

Volume
How much of an asset was traded. High volume = busy, easy to trade; low volume = quiet and thinner.
UTC
One global clock, so times mean the same everywhere. Korea is UTC+9.
Index (100 = window average)
Each 15-minute slot's volume relative to the average of the 04:00–10:00 UTC window. 87 = 13% quieter, 122 = 22% busier.

Summary

Korea and London barely overlap on this tape. KRX regular hours end at 15:30 KST, which is 06:30 UTC. London opens at 08:00 UTC in winter and 07:00 UTC in summer — a 90-minute gap in winter and a 30-minute gap in summer.

Volume fades into the Korean close, then rebuilds into London. It does not spike at 06:30. For BTC, the KRX-close bar (06:15–06:30) is 87 in winter and 98 in summer versus the 04:00–10:00 mean. The first London bar is 122 in winter (08:00) and 112 in summer (07:00).

Evidence

In plain English

Each number is that 15-minute slot's volume compared with the average of 04:00–10:00 UTC (100). Below 100 = quieter than average, above 100 = busier. The pattern is a dip near 06:15–06:30 UTC and a rise by London open.

Caveats

Notes are educational. They are not investment advice and they do not recommend trades. Historical or simulated results are not a live track record.

This is Binance spot USDT volume, not KRX cash, Upbit or LSE cash. A fade-then-rebuild profile is not a trade. DST splits London; Korea stays on KST.
